YouTube Transcript Summarizer is a tool that fetches transcripts from YouTube videos and generates AI-powered summaries. This privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Data We Collect

• YouTube URLs: When you use our service, you provide YouTube video URLs. These URLs are processed to fetch transcripts but are not stored permanently.
• Transcripts: Video transcripts are fetched from YouTube and processed temporarily to generate summaries. They are not stored after processing.
• Settings: The Chrome extension stores your backend URL preference locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Personal information (name, email, etc.)
• Browsing history
• YouTube account information
• Any data from pages other than the YouTube video you're summarizing

Third-Party Services

• YouTube: We fetch publicly available transcript data from YouTube.
• Anthropic Claude API: Transcripts are sent to Claude AI for summarization. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Data Security

All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS. We do not store transcripts or summaries on our servers after they are returned to you.
